what’s this all about ???

It seems that marketers looking for an edge have decided that any activity can be improved by making it “extreme”. Clearly some sports involve a tad more risk than others, but that hardly gives credibility to some of the fabricated extreme sports out there like ‘extreme ping-pong’ or ‘extreme diving’. Isn’t it already implied that jumping off a fifty-foot cliff headfirst is an extreme activity?

We decided to take the most relaxing pastime out there, chilling in the hammock, and give  it the extreme makeover that so many other ’sports’ have had. The hammock seems to have  been subjugated to the world of mutual fund advertising and promises of early retirement…  but we’ll have none of that! We’re taking back the simple fun of lying in the hammock and  sending up the ‘extreme-sports’ overkill at the same time.

‘Extreme Hammock’ was born out of a few too many beers on a sunny patio last summer,  and with the help of friends and supporters, we’ve gone online and taken it to the EXTREME. The ’stunts’ depicted on this site were performed by professionals, despite their best judgment. Too much sun and way too much beer will do that to you. You probably don’t want to try this at home, because hammocks weren’t meant to be hung-up indoors, but if you do take it to the extreme, take pictures and send them in. We’ll add your submissions to the site and give you credit too! Double check your knots, test the weight first, and use a spotter (best if the spotter takes the pictures too).
